Agbegnigan Amouzou,
a.k.a. Coach Fofo
Head Coach of ESYDA

Coach Agbegnigan “Fofo” Amouzou is the Founder, Executive Director, and Head
Coach of the Elite Soccer Youth Development Academy. He started his professional
soccer career as a midfielder with the Republic of Togo National Team and continued
his prestigious career with various clubs throughout Europe, particularly in France. His
achievements include playing at the World Cup and 15 French professional soccer divi
sions from 1988 to 1998. He is also the head coach of the Les Aiglons Football Club.

As someone who has worked in Montgomery County for 21 years, Coach Fofo knows how to reach students and change their lives beyond the soccer field. Certified as a professional coach in both France and the United States, a professional certificate from the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) in 2002 and licensed as a head coach by the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA), Coach Fofo offers invaluable mentorship and guidance to ESYDA players on and off the field.

Coach Fofo has also been involved with numerous soccer clubs in the metropolitan Maryland area, including the Guinea DMV Team, the Burkina Faso Team, and a host of Maryland High School teams. Active and well- regarded soccer and youth advocate throughout Maryland, he is the recipient of the 2013 IMPACT Silver Spring Social Mo mentum Award.
