ESYDA SPRING SEASON REPORT – 2025
This comprehensive report provides an overview of the activities, progress, and achievements of the Spring Season session at ESYDA (Empowerment Society for Youth Development through Athletics). The report is structured around key focus areas and initiatives carried out during the season.
1. Season Overview
The Spring season officially began on April 2nd, 2025, marked by a strong spirit of commitment and participation from both players and parents. Fields and coaching assignments were organized according to two primary groups: Recreational and Select.
2. Coaching Staff and Recruitment
Prior to the start of the season, we experienced a setback with the departure of three coaches for various reasons. However, this challenge was quickly addressed through the successful recruitment of five new coaches, ensuring adequate support for all teams throughout the season.
3. Player Registration
This Spring saw a notable increase in participation, with nearly 200 players registered across different categories:
Recreation and Select programs
Esyda Gaithersburg team
Three School-Based Teams:
Cherokee Elementary
Stonegate Elementary
Meadow Hall Elementary
4. DOC Parent Outreach
To foster better communication and involvement, the Director of Coaching (DOC) conducted three Parent Stand-Up Meetings during practice sessions. These meetings provided a platform for parents to raise concerns, share feedback, and stay informed about seasonal progress.
5. Esyda Grassroot League & Games
The Esyda Grassroot League was a major highlight and success of the season. The league not only enhanced community engagement but also created opportunities for player development. Notably, it attracted three external teams:
Oxon Hill Academy (Fort Washington)
Beltsville Soccer Academy (Laurel)
Global Impact (Bowie)
6. Try-Out Workshop
A four-day Tryout Workshop was conducted, focusing on player evaluation and skill development. The event was well-coordinated and supported by our dedicated coaching team, helping players to be properly assessed and grouped for future competitions.
7. Season Closure and Team Achievements
The Recreation teams ended the season with a successful Medal Day celebration, recognizing every player’s effort and participation.
The Select teams demonstrated outstanding performance in competitive matches, achieving commendable rankings within their leagues.
8. Newly Introduced Education Program
A major innovation this season was the integration of educational initiatives alongside athletic development:
U15/U16 Teams began participating in a Virtual Education Workshop every Monday (6:00 PM – 7:00 PM), in collaboration with the Global Health Institute for Innovation and Leadership Inc.
During the upcoming Summer Clinics, we will launch the Esyda After-School Reading Club Program for:
U6 players from 6:45 PM – 7:30 PM on Wednesdays
U12 players during the same hours on alternating weeks
Conclusion
The 2025 Spring Season at ESYDA was a resounding success, thanks to the tireless efforts of our coaching staff, dedicated parents, enthusiastic players, and committed partners. We look forward to building upon this momentum with even greater accomplishments in the seasons to come.
